Plant shutdowns and modifications
A shutdown is a fixed-duration project with a hard finish. The scope has to be frozen before it starts, because there is no time to decide anything once the plant is down.
The plan is built as an hour-by-hour sequence, not a task list. Each activity carries its own manpower, equipment, material and permit requirement, and the dependencies between activities are made explicit so that the critical path is visible before the plant stops rather than discovered on the second night.
Materials and fabricated items are staged before the shutdown begins. Anything that has to be cut, welded or drilled during the window is prepared in advance wherever the interface allows, so the time on site is spent on work that genuinely cannot be done while the plant is running.
Permits, isolation, height work clearance, hot work clearance and confined space entry are arranged against the sequence, not requested when the crew is already standing at the location. Progress is reviewed against the hour plan at fixed intervals, so slippage is visible while there is still time to recover it.
